John Z.S. Chen M.D., FAAD

Dr. John Chen is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgeon. He joined the group of HealthySkin Dermatology in 2004 and has performed well over ten thousand Mohs surgery cases since then.

Born and raised in Shenyang, North Eastern China, Dr. Chen received his medical degree from China Medical University in Shenyang, and came to the United States in 1992 as a research fellow sponsored by the National Institute of Health. He did extensive research at Emory University where he was recognized for his outstanding work on skin diseases and cutaneous biology. He has been awarded national research grants and was the recipient of the Dermatology Foundation Research Fellowship Award in 1994.

Dr. Chen completed an internship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and received his dermatology training at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He then completed his fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Louisville and another fellowship in Laser and Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery in Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York.

He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology.

Dr. Chen is also very active in dermatologic research and has authored 42 publications and book chapters. He lectures at national and international dermatology meetings. In 2006, Dr. Chen became a co-partner of HealthySkin Dermatology.

He is married and has two children. His hobbies include swimming, tennis, traveling, and stamps-collecting.
